  • Re: Rate/Review the Last Movie or TV Show You Watched

Yeah, I'm not planning on doing it all in one shot. XD I'm gunna watch a few episodes every few days. Everyone says it's an incredible show, and I thought the first episode was really great, so I'm looking forward to it.

For 'major crisis', read 'I want to sit on my arse and stare at a screen for thirteen minutes more and if I can't I'll throw a tantrum'.

Oh, well once you've thought about it, we probably won't care then either. Thanks.

^That's the attitude I'm talking about. You know, there are actually talented writers out there on the internet who deserve attention. Yes, they may be writing about a pre-existing fictional universe, but I have seen a lot of people bring magnificent stories by creatively using some of the many elements of someone else's vast universe to make something great. People can write amazingly articulate stories, some far, far longer than standard novel length. Why would they do that? They don't do it for profit. They do it because they enjoy it. The entire point to a fandom is to celebrate fiction. Yes, there are awful, stupid fanfictions in the world that shouldn't see the light of day, because some people are unintelligent fucks who can't write or use their imagination. But fanfiction can be used as a stepping stone for budding writers these days who can one day make their own thing.

I'd also like to add that Queen Rowling herself has said that she encourages fanfiction for that very reason. But of course, you're welcome to a snobbish, ignorant opinion as much as anyone is.
