the hobbit is a 2 part film encompasssing the novel and a previously unpublished story thath appened during the novels events which further ties it to LOTR
Deathly Hallows combined is an amazing experience the way it was meant to be seen

The Hobbit will demolish TDKR overseas. They will both be fantastic films though.

It seems like everyone is copying Potter, but no... The Hobbit was announced as two parts before both Potter and Twishit. Twishit doesn't need it, but this certainly warrants it.

I've never read the Hobbit, but I am glad to be receiving two films over one. Are there any epic battles?

You can be sure of it.

Right at the end. It takes up quite a few pages. Though you do get fights in between too. You should read it Aaron!

Oh god. I'm anticipating this even more then. I watched Helm's Deep last night...and cried. :))

I watched ROTK a week ago, and I cried when Aragorn says those 2 words.

The Hobbit does have a very good battle at the end, though Bilbo is knocked out for most of it so I bet that will be changed lol. I wonder what they'll do so that the Eagles coming in the Battle of the Five Armies isn't too repetitive of the end of RotK. Same with the group facing the goblins maybe being too similar to the battle in Moria, though I bet they'll do a good job of giving each their own distinctive feels.

Oh, that scene was just about the biggest tear jerker I've ever seen in a movie! Man, that movie was just so well done. Some of the best acting I've ever seen.

    I'm eagerly awaiting this.

    "The Hobbit" isn't nearly
as "epic" as LOTR, but it's
    much more dynamic and
    adventurous.

    I seriously can't wait :)

    I recently bought a
    magazine, and it includes
    a lengthy set-report from
    "The Hobbit".

    Peter will not disappoint,
I'm sure of it. He's putting
a lot of effort into this :D

You should read the Hobbit! It's a much easier book to get through than LotR.

I'm glad Jackson is directing rather than Del Toro. That's a relief. The Hobbit wouldn't be the same without him directing.

Well, I'm not sure if I have time to read it, but I'll look into it--maybe next summer? :)

    Same.

    I mean, Guillermo would
    have been GREAT, but I
    think that having Peter in
the director's chair is just ...

    RIGHT.

I’m looking forward to it. It should be interesting to see how Jackson handles the off-screen stuff (I hope it doesn’t overshadow Bilbo’s story though) and seeing the Goblin town, Barrel ride, Mirkwood, The three trolls (hope they talk), Gollum’s riddles, Smaug and his attack on Lake Town and, of course, the Battle of the Five Armies.

I wonder how long they’ll be? The Hobbit’s no where near as meaty as LOTR or as complex in its story. I’m guessing both Parts should be about 130-140 minutes each.
